Description:

Well advertised on release, the Johnson range was popular, especially the 352D. If you look hard enough you will find these radios at markets or garage sales, though starting to dwindle in number. When first released, they were only avaliable as a 23 channel radio, but when the new RB249 regulations were made law on 1st January 1978, if you hadn't licenced your 352D in time, it was now illegal to use. Luckily the importers of the Johnson range came to the rescue. You could now take your 352D back to Mike Skovron Agencies and have them convert your radio to a type approved 18 channel ( the 352D-18 ) for only $35. This included fitting the 18 channel selector and attaching a new type approval plate with approval number to the rear of the radio ( long live the 352 ). Strangely enough, if you licenced your 352D before this date, you only needed the new channel selector fitted for $25.These units also had cracking transmit audio as long as you still have the original microphone. As they age they are susceptible to dry solder joints, so when purchasing one, if you can, try it out.
