The SSB-1000 was one of three models released under the Kemtronic brand. These were one of the cheapest AM/SSB radios sold. Unfortunately for these units, as they aged they suffer from numerous dry solder joints and the factory supplied microphone was poor. Performance, middle of the road, but what you would expect from a radio of this type. A power mic will improve performance greatly and one of the Kemtronic accessories was indeed a hand held power microphone. The radio in the picture has been upgraded to 40 channel.
